Deadwood, Season 1 & 2

I've purchased both seasons for my dad the past two Xmas' and he absolutely loved them...and keeps pestering me about when he's going to get season 3--greedy he is!

Since I had plowed through Buffy, Angel, Robin of Sherwood, and god knows how many other series, I decided I'd just borrow the Deadwoods to see what the what was.

Once you get past the extremely liberal usage of words like fuck, motherfucker, cocksucker and cunt, Deadwood is a damn good show. You get interesting and downright odd characters, a gritty, dirty backdrop, intertwining storylines, and an overall decent amount of entertainment.

There are whores, goldminers, entrepreneurs, murderers, chinese folk, a gimp (who is indeed the Geri Jewell who played Blair's cousin with CP on Facts of Life). Oh and there are lots and lots of references to and simulations of blowjobs, which just kinda cracks me up.

Jane Weigert's portrayal of a drunken Calamity Jane is just outstanding...that woman does some of the best drunken slurring ever known. And the interactions between Swearengen and Mr. Wu are absolutely hysterical (SWEGEN...COCKSUCKER!).

Deadwood isn't your standard western and a far cry from a spaghetti western, but it's worth a viewing if you like that genre overall.

4.5 stars...4 for being a great show and .5 for using the "c" word!
